For a place that seems to have 364 days of summer heat, this much ice outside of a beer cooler is freaky.
While I was taking pictures from our apartment balcony (I could only stand in one corner - the rest was slick and I couldn't be bothered to change out of my no-weather slippers), I noticed this light, tinkling sound. It turned out to be the iced-over branches of a tree clacking together in the breeze, and I stood out there a little longer just to listen to it.
Then I got my frozen ass back inside.

You got three whole days off huh? Brandon got one and a half. I got one and I think the store opened late today (I wasn't there). It was fun chipping away at the car today though. Brandon mostly, I ran back inside complaining about being cold and sick.
Ha! Yeah, I had to go at the car with a screwdriver this morning and the ice was coming off in sheets. Pretty awesome! But not as awesome as three days off! It's funny how quickly you get used to it - coming in to work today was a pain in the ass.
Man, the boss-man is a slave-driver! Doesn't he realize it's dangerous to have you guys out there? Bah!
Oh it wasn't SOOOO bad, I just went a bit stir crazy. Watched too much TV news weather coverage and daytime TV. If I could have gotten settled into reading I would have been fine. Not having Lee bit the big one though. You people ALL need to buy ice scrapers and use cold water. You first hit the intended spot to be scraped with a nice heavy flow of cold water. Then you use an ICE SCRAPER (not screw drivers, not spatulas, not debit card or IDs) and do quick, piercing blows, eventually you'll knock off whole chunks of ice. And get it ALL off of the roof, hood, trunk, and sides of your car. It isn't that hard and is a serious safety issue. I did it twice during this storm, once I had serious assistance from a dude with an awesome tool, but the other time I was totally on my own with just my basic scraper and it was really not a big deal at all. I took some ice shots too but they are on this weird lumography camera called a Holga that Lee got for her birthday, so we have to wait the weeks it takes to get the 120 film processed to see how they turned out. Holgas do weird things too, they have strange light leaks and simple focus and aperture settings, so they are going to look really odd, which is the point of lumography. I'm, obviously, still very rambly from all that cooped up, lonely frustration.
